He asked for a mohawk
Yes, he actually asked for a mohawk. And I would have let him. I mean, really, how long would it take to grow it back? And if he really got sick of it we could just shave his head for the summer. We could have had a little fun with it too, dyed it green, made it into 3 huge spikes... But, no, my clean cut, no tatoos or piercings husband vetoed that before we were even out the door.
So, instead, we got this new "spiky" do. He loves it. He now asks to take a shower every morning so he can wash his hair before we style it. Oh yeah, did I mention that he's 5? Just one day we went form playing in the bathtub in the evenings with little brother to showering before school. I hope it's just a novelty and we aren't actually that old yet.
OK, so the reason for the new haircut? Nolan wanted to be like his best friend Cooper, who has this exact style. He's been asking for it for months. But, everytime I ask him if he wants to go get his haircut I can't pull him away from his video game. Until there were other boys in the classroom getting their hair cut like Cooper's...then it became more of a priority. There is now only 1 boy that doesn't have this haircut. I am sure he will have it before the year is out.
The other day when I was dropping Nolan off, I heard all the boys discussng what color the hair gel they use. Really? Five year old boys discussing hair product? The teacher asked me what we used and I said I was using up all my old Aveda products. I mean, I don't have time to style my hair. I am sure when it's all gone I will then switch over to whatever cheap blue or pink hair gel I can pick up at Target. Until then though, my son has the best smellig hair of them all.
