Friday, April 13th, I drove over to Asheville, NC to go out with two of my all time favorite people. Lucy and Serena. Lucy had asked us a couple months ago if we wanted to go see Patty Griffin in concert at The Orange Peel. We three tend to like the same type of music as well as just truly enjoy each other's company. I had been looking forward to it for a very long time. I actually straightened my hair and put on tons of make up. I made sure to not have to stop for gas at 4:00 in the afternoon since I looked so trashy...but I wanted to be ready to go once I got there. It was perfect timing. I got to Lucy's at 6:30, in time for us to grab a bite to eat first. Cheap Mexican...and a nice big meal so I would be able to drink!
So, here I was in downtown Asheville with my family 150 miles away. It was the first time I have left Charlie, and he is almost 2! I felt light somehow. I knew I could sleep in the next morning and there was no hubby at home worrying what time I might walk through the door. Good times.
Patty Griffin was incredible. Her first half the show was mostly from her new album Children Running Through. Which I don't have, so I wasn't too familiar with the songs. But, her second half was some oldies. Some slow, and some sort of boot kicking. We danced a bit and drank lots of wine.
When the show was over, Serena had to go home. She lives in Boone and had to work the next morning. I was a little disappointed, but I understood. But, Lucy and I didn't have to do either...so we headed out for one last night cap before heading home. We stopped at Old Europe. It used to just be a little coffee shop on Wall Street. But, not anymore...it moved and it's big! Plus, it has a happening club behind it (which we did not go to). Our drinks ended up being on the house due to my friend Lucy's blonde hair and voluptuous body...always a great way to end the night.
It was an excellent evening. I can't wait to find the next musical outing we all may enjoy...
